The start of something new...

January 17, 2015  •  1 Comment

My first blog post.  This is strange.  I never imagined myself being a "blogger".  I hope to post my recent photo work from my photography business or just from my life in general.  I also may post random things that I need to vent about and my Pinterest attempts.. or fails.  There will be plenty of typos and grammatical mistakes that i'll embarrassingly find too late, and there will probably be some inappropriate material and/or language.  You may get sick of and/or confused by the overabundance of quotes from "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation" and my love for sushi and all things chocolate.  If nothing else, it should be entertaining.

I would also like to explain my "absence" from my photography business the past couple of years.  In 2012, I moved my family into my parents house in Holtwood, PA.  My father was still working full-time at that point and my mother was fairly recently diagnosed with dementia.  This is not something I regularly post or talk about.  I'm getting better at that though, holding things in is no good!  My Mother could not be left alone during the day, so it just made sense to move here.  It also seemed like the perfect time for my husband, Tom, to go back to college and finish his degree in Computer Science.  It's been an emotionally draining couple of years.  I focused most of my energy on my family and trying to avoid/deal with the reality of my Mother having dementia.  It wasn't easy.  It's still not easy.  It's a horrible disease.  My Mother was my best friend and now she is just a shell of the person she used to be.  I know that ... deep down... there's a small part of her still in there.  But.. it sucks!  Dementia REALLY SUCKS!  With all that being said, I put my business on the back burner to focus spending my time on the people who are important to me.

In these past two years, my husband graduated from Millersville University.

And, we had our second daughter, Ellie!

Lots of other things happened, but those were a couple of the big ones.  Tom now works for Deloitte in Camp Hill, PA, Grace is in the first grade, and Ellie and I spend our days hanging out with my Mom and officially retired Dad at home.  Since Ellie will be turning one in a couple months and things seem to moving in the right direction, I decided it was time to focus some energy on my business.  I love photography.  I love taking pictures and capturing images that people will cherish for a lifetime.  I really do.  I don't, so much, love the business aspect.  Dealing with clients can drive me crazy.  I'm a very creative, ambitious, and completely unorganized, scatter-brained woman.  I drive my husband crazy!  I hope to recruit some help for the unorganized, scatter-brained portion of my life.  Because... ain't nobody got time for that!

Oh, here are a few pics of Gracie.  She loves the first grade and driving me crazy.

She is one feisty and energetic six-year-old!

And a new pic of me... taken by my niece and occasional second photographer, Jasmine!

So, here's hoping 2015 brings a newly updated website, regularly updated blog entries, booked wedding dates and a healthy family.

Thanks for reading and check back soon!
